2025 Choirs Performing

If You Can't Sing It, Wing It!
Our choir motto! We love singing, but hey, if it goes wrong, at least we carry on singing & smiling.
Our choir welcomes any range of singing ability. The main requirement is to enjoy yourself. We sing in 3, 4 or more part harmonies but you won't find us singing typical choir music. Our aim is to sing unexpected songs, to challenge ourselves & to have fun in the process.
If you can hold a tune, enjoy singing & want to join a relaxed yet challenging choir then why not come along & join in a rehearsal? It's not essential to be able to read music, although a little bit of knowledge would help you. You won't be asked to do anything you don't want to... especially not audition!

Welcome to Duffield’s own community Choir! We are a group of people from all walks of life who love singing together.
The Duffield Singers is led by professional music teacher and international tenor Dana de Waal. Dana’s wife, Anne, is our pianist and is a Musical Director and Music Teacher in her own right.
Rehearsals are weekly on Wednesday evenings at St Margaret’s Clitherow Church on Hall Farm Road, Duffield, DE56 4FS. We arrive from 19.35. There are no auditions and we offer 4 free sessions to see if you like our music (and us).
We sing a variety of music – classical, folk, popular and some music specially composed for us, as well as songs for specific times of the year, such as Christmas. Some of us can read music, others can’t. Some sing down in the depths, others high in the rafters with the rest of us somewhere in between. Some sing loudly, others quietly. You can try different voice groups to see where you fit in. There’s a place for you …

Voices and Voices Echoes – the City of Derby Girls Choir
We sing a wide variety of songs – madrigals to musicals, sacred and secular, jazz and pop, old music, new music. We have singers from lots of different schools as well as the Echoes section who are a group of past members that currently live and work across the UK and meet a few times a year to join the core choir for concerts and tours. Alumni of the choir have gone on to Conservatoires and singing professions. Singers have some great opportunities: concerts in superb UK venues; singing solos; singing in smaller chamber groups; recording; singing in competitions; world premieres of new choral works.
But perhaps the highlight of the choir year is going abroad on our annual choir concert tour. The list of destinations have included Notre Dame and La Madeleine in Paris, St Mark’s in Venice, the Duomo in Florence, Barcelona Cathedral, Salzburg Cathedral, Cologne Cathedral, the Berliner Dom, the Menin Gate Ceremony in Ypres, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Thomaskirche in Leipzig.
The Choir is led by Ann Millar as Founding Director and Dan Millar as Musical Director.

We met for the first time in 2012, in St Mary’s Church, Denby, when about ten people met to discuss the possibility of forming a local choir. We went through a number of stages and venues as we grew, but then came Covid!
Ten years on from our first meeting, we were able to re-group, and now meet happily in the Sitwell Arms in Horsley Woodhouse on the first and third Thursday of the month, where we are always happy to welcome new members.
The major qualifications for choir membership are that we love to sing and to enjoy being together – both during rehearsal and, for some, over a drink afterwards.

If you think you might like to join us, then please speak to someone this evening, or contact Cathy on 07986 450 580, or by email.

The Derventio Choir has been singing since 1992. We sing Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass parts under the direction of Alexander Binns (Alex is also Director of Music at Derby Cathedral). The choice of music is varied, ranging from show, traditional folk songs, spirituals and sacred music.
We meet every Tuesday evening from 7.45pm to 9.30pm at St Edmunds Church Hall in Allestree, Derby. Rehearsals are focussed but we also laugh and enjoy ourselves. We perform concerts for charities in the summer and at Christmas.

This popular Derbyshire choir founded in November 2007, is renowned for sharing its love of singing. Founded and directed by Ally Law, this vibrant, entertaining and vivacious group of women hits the mark with a variety of audiences through their high singing standards, mixed repertoire, infectious joy of singing and sense of fun. Since 2018 they have left their barbershop roots behind and now have a more contemporary approach to their repertoire.
Our philosophy is simple; 'If we are having a good time then our audiences will too'
We rehearse every Thursday 7.30 - 9.40 pm at The Lime Tree, Matlock. DE4 3EJ

Derby Choral Union is Derby's longest-running voluntary choir, now in its 158th Season of performing choral music both classical and contemporary to the highest standards.
Highly regarded as one of the foremost choirs in the region, we perform three concerts each season, with our repertoire containing an extensive and exciting range of music from the traditional choral works to music by 20th and 21st century composers.
All our rehearsals are open to the public and to potential new members, so why not pay us a visit.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm, at St John's Church, Devonshire Drive, Mickleover.

Established in 1959 as a social gathering for female employees of Rolls-Royce and spouses of the many male employees, the Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir has evolved into a vibrant community of around 35 members welcoming singers of all backgrounds. Under the skilled guidance of our Musical Director, Christine Hunt, and the talented pianist John Lord, we bring together a diverse repertoire spanning classical, traditional, and modern pieces ranging from Cole Porter to Coldplay!
At RRLC, we're not just about preserving tradition; we're about ensuring choral singing remains dynamic and inclusive for all generations. That's why we're committed to making our performances attractive and accessible to the younger crowd, aiming to boost membership and guarantee the enduring legacy of choral music.
From intimate church halls to grand venues like The Dome in Buxton and The Albert Hall in Nottingham, we love sharing our music with audiences far and wide. Collaborating with other choirs and musical ensembles is a special joy for us, fostering mutual admiration, enjoyment, and respect.
As we celebrate our 65th anniversary this year, our dedication to the perpetuity of RRLC remains steadfast. Join us on this musical journey and experience the magic of choral singing with Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir!

The Mickleover Singers are a friendly, non-audition, mixed choir of around 30 voices who sing a wide range of music, including classical, folk, musicals, and popular pieces. We meet and rehearse together on a Monday evening, 7:30-9:15pm, at St John the Evangelist Church, Devonshire Drive, Mickleover during term-time. We perform three concerts throughout the year at Christmas, Easter and Summer. We also like to bring a little festive cheer to care home residents and shoppers alike by performing at local venues in the run up to Christmas. This year we performed at the Derby Arts Festival in the Community Choir category which proved a very enjoyable experience for all involved – something we are hoping to repeat in future years.

If you’d like to join the choir or have any other enquiries, we would love to hear from you. We are recruiting new members, especially tenor and bass from 9th September 2024 – there is no audition and you don’t need any experience or ability to read music, just a willingness to have a go!
